For a while now, I have felt a sense of dread when I thought about going into my studio. It was doing the opposite of what it was supposed to do. Rather than feeling like a sanctuary where I felt free to let go and explore - I felt confined and boxed in.
What started as physical (so much STUFF all around, unorganized, and threatening to tumble in) turned into mental over time. It felt like my creativity was slowly suffocating.
This past weekend, I was able to turn a corner. And even though I have a long way left to go, I have experienced an immense difference already.
One of the most satisfying moments so far, is finding clear, bins that fit my rolling carts *perfectly*
It feels like all of my emails to you lately have been long winded - so I've kept this brief. But, if you are interested in hearing more about this studio refresh - the process, how I'm doing it, and the mindset shift that has been set in motion - let me know! I can put together a more in depth blog post ☺️
In The BB Connection last week, I talked about the two art activities that have been therapeutic for me lately. Gelli plate printing and paper weaving!
I hosted a live playdate this past weekend (it was SO good to spend time with everyone!) and I showed my current approach to both. Playdates aren't classes necessarily, but they are an opportunity to get a backstage pass into my creative process. The way they differ in my mind is I don't have a "lesson plan" ahead of time - I just have a general idea of what I want to work on and I talk you through my process as I go along.
In my experience, it has always been so helpful to be able to crawl into the mind of other artists and see how they actually work. Not a polished version that has been edited down - but the real live thing.
I put together a little preview of that playdate, check it out!
After some requests, I decided to offer the replay for sale to anyone who wasn't able to make it live. 3 versions of the replay are included, including a higher quality "BB only view" that lets you see my art table the whole time. Only $12 - check out more details here.
*please note, if you purchased the live playdate experience, you already have access to the replay. View in classroom here.
